Maisano`s Italian Restaurant in Novi

This is a delayed review. I had been dining here since the first owner was still in-house. I had hoped the quality and flavors would have continued,however,with each return after selling the menu items changed to the extent they no longer resemble my favorite items: lasagna, spaghetti with meat sauce and the buns with dipping sauce! The best Italian ever, back in the day. The sauce is like a thick tomato paste base that had not enough water added nor spices to simmering . The lasagna is meh 😑. The bread and dipping oil not so great. Sad when a long time fav makes such a drastic change. I get new owners making their own twists but this was just too much of a twist for my family and I.

The food was absolutely amazing. The service spectacular, I’m so happy our waiter recommended the daily specials, my husband and I truly enjoyed it. We had leftovers and it was still amazing on the second day when we warmed it up. So happy I found this restaurant!!

Great food. A long wait, but worth it. On line page isn't clear that reservations are needed, but you really should make them. You will get seated earlier.

Amazing food.... delicious... great service. It's a small nondescript place but don't let that stop you....portions are large and flavors are authentic.

Compliments to the chef, the food was outstanding - cannot recommend the wedge salad enough (best blue cheese dressing I’ve ever had). It was a 5-star experience except for our waitress: she lingered a little too long with our table, engaging in conversation that wasn’t prompted (or welcome), was very loud, and used the R-word several times to describe negative experiences she had with *other customers* (WHAT?). Very ignorant and unprofessional. It definitely tarnished my impression of the restaurant. If I ever go back, may opt for takeout.

Love the pasta, it's flavorful and fresh, the portions are large and the service is fast.

The service was very good and we felt extremely comfortable in the restaurant. However the food is not the best. The sauce all tasted like pre-made jarred ragú, and the pasta was definitely a very cheap pre-packaged type. The salads were actually pretty good and the soups were mediocre at best. All in all a below average experience.

My husband and I ate here tonight and it was wonderful. Clean, romantic but family friendly environment and the food was excellent. The cocktails were pretty good and our waiter was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be going back.

I was very disappointed in my experience. We went in a group of 4 to celebrate a friend's birthday. We chose this place for the great reviews. After my experience I'm not sure why they have anything above one star. I had hair in my food. Not just on top of it or next to, but literally caked into my chicken. Another member of my party had hair on her plate. The hair was thin and black which no one at my table had. When I told the waitress there was hair in my food she just said she'd take my plate and walked away. This was all after we waited over an hour for our food (literally) then an extra 20 minutes for my plate to come out(must've forgot to make my food. Of course no apology was given). At a good restaurant I would expect for an apology or something as opposed to the bland, uncaring response I got. Food was also not even good before I found the hair. I don't write bad reviews but this place was BAD. Two thumbs down.

Excellent food and service. Kaitlyn is by far the best waitress we have ever had. Definitely the best Italian food in the metro Detroit area.

Antonio was an amazing server and made my first experience at Maisano's something to never forget. I will definitely be coming back to this amazing restaurant. Lasagna was on point along with the hot fudge brownie sundae

Good ambience and food. It’s a small and cozy restaurant. The staff is very friendly and prompt. I really liked the food. The chicken was well cooked and crisp. I really liked their Marinara sauce. May feel overpriced but the portions are good.

Food was excellent. Service was extremely slow, even for our initial drinks. Not sure if this is a staff shortage or lack of management.

For was very good, it's a small cozy Italian place. You get soup or salad with your meal. You also get some bread. Ribeye was really good and so was pasta we ordered. Service was ok, waitress did not come by often, otherwise it would have been 5 stars. Big portions and very affordable.

Excellent place for take out. Hard to find good food around here. I suggest you try this place. Cant wait for the pandemic to be over so they can open up for us to sit inside.

This is hands down the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I have been here about 10 times now and every time the service has been impressive, consistent, and amazing and the food... perfect. They have different specials every day and their main menu has so many delicious options. The restaurant is decked out with beautiful murals of Italian scenery and art and is absolutely gorgeous. The whole experience is incredibly authentic. This is probably the most authentic, consistently impressive restaurant I have ever been to.

Had a great experience. Food and service were excellent. Waitress was very knowledgeable . The steak marsala was fantastic.

Will not return! They make you wear a mask while you wait to be seated. We both cannot wear masks but they forced us too. We will not be returning. Go elsewhere wear they are understanding and want your business!

Had never eaten here before, but after driving by and deciding Italian was what sounded good for dinner, we decided to order carry out. Upon mentioning it was our first time trying the restaurant, the gentleman Antonio behind the bar, made sure the experience - even if carry out - still was exceptional. He truly went above and beyond for us to provide a great experience. The food was delicious; bruschetta, hot spinach and artichoke dip, St. Louis toasted ravioli, and angel hair aglio e olio with mushrooms. I was also very pleased with their enforcement of masks - it is the polite thing to do in this crazy times, especially if you respect what small businesses have to do to remain open! We will definitely be recommend this Novi hidden gem to all of our family and friends!

Delicious food. The place is small but food speaks the volume. This was my first visit but won't be the last. Their tiramisu is very good as well.

Do not let the outside appearance run you off thinking it is just some strip mall restaurant. You will fall in love with the small intimate romantic setting. My husband and I have come to love this place. We hope to someday be one of those in the reserved booth! 😉 The food is authentic and amazing every time. We never have a complaint. The bread they give you is soooooo delish! I highly recommend & we will be faithful patrons for years to come. ❤️

Just happened upon this place and glad I did! Authentic Italian. Great staff and fantastic food. I live in Lansing but will definitely make the drive back for more! Absolutely wonderful!

Great atmosphere before other customers brought really young kids that began screaming to high heaven. Please do not be like those people and instead leave your young, noisy kids at home as it’s disrespectful to other patrons and the class of this establishment. Steak was cooked to perfection and Fettuccine Alfredo, although a classic, seemed new with the rich Alfredo flavor.

There are a LOT of places to eat near by but this place should be on your list to visit. The atmosphere is very cozy. It is in a tiny strip mall but when you go in you step into a different world. It is much larger than you would expect. The service was very good, and the food was excellent. The portions were large and came out piping hot.

It had been a few years since we visited. The food and service were just as good as we remembered. We will probably stop in again sooner rather than later. Too bad it's not close to home.

One of the best Italian restaurants I have visited so far. The service was prompt, professional, and very friendly. Our server in particular, was very good. The food was delicious! Perfectly cooked and full of flavour. There were also beautiful photographs and murals on the walls. Combined with the soft music in the background, it gave the place a very unique atmosphere.

Delicious Italian food and properly attentive service. Also loved the ravioli appetizer and the almond cake dessert. This is one of the best places that I have ever eaten.

We enjoy going to this place. Our experiences were particularly delightful, thanks to the excellent service from Krishanti. Some of my standard orders here are their Calamari Fritti and Marsala. Their specials and desserts are pretty good too.

Did a Google search of an authentic Italian restaurant in the area. This was the first one to come up. We absolutely enjoy our food! Our waitress Stephanie was very accommodating and she was such a nice person. We will be definitely returning here soon!

Reviews stated it was a great place to eat, so my aquaintences and I decided to try it while we were in town. The reviews were right. The food was terrific. Would definitely recommend to anyone that is by this way.

I love the steak bites and gnocchi, I get it everytime. The sangria is delicious. Whenever I come here it's a good experience.

This is only the second time dinning in this fabulous Italian restaurant. We brought friends and traveled from Lansing (1 hour away) just to eat here. All I can say is WOW from the food, to the staff!!! Bravo Maisano's you nailed it!
